Dimitris Boufidis is Bioengineering PhD student at the University of Pennsylvania (USA), one of the world’s best and oldest academic institutions in the world. For his undergraduate studies, he was a scholarship-awarded bioengineering (Biomedical Engineering) student at the University of Sheffield, with a truly international education. Dimitris Boufidis attended a fully-funded summer school on ‘data science’ and ‘3D bioprinting’ at the prestigious NTU Singapore.
In addition to his unparalleled passion for new challenges, Dimitris Boufidis had the opportunity to hold various leadership positions, including the elected representative of 1000+ engineering students and the Chair of the SU Council, the highest democratic decision-making body of the Students’ Union.
Dimitris Boufidis was recently invited to give a TEDx Talk and was selected as one of the top 100 ‘Leaders of Tomorrow’ at the GapSummit 2020 (Cambridge, UK). Dimitris is an avid traveller always seeking out the sun and good museums, loving political philosophy and enjoying cooking and eating delicious foods.

I am a PhD student at the University of Pennsylvania (USA), co-advised by Dr Kacy Cullen and Dr Flavia. I dream big and try to do even bigger. My aspiration as a biomedical engineer is to do translational research to solve some of the world’s biggest challenges, re-imagine neuroengineering technologies and make healthcare accessible & affordable to everyone, anywhere on the planet.
